# two-files-are-truth

Idea council-site-truth-map. Status: DRAFT, nothing posted.

## Slides

**Cover.** Seven places said different things. Two files fixed it. How we stopped misreading client website state. (September 2026, read 2026-10-11)

**Slide 2.** Two wrong claims in one night. Each came from a stale record that looked right.

**Slide 3.** Data. Site state was recorded in 7 places and read from 4, and no two agreed (audit of 2026-09-15, read 2026-10-11).

**Slide 4.** Why it drifted: every edit updated whichever record the editor was looking at.

**Slide 5.** Truth file 1 is the client profile: business facts such as CMS, host and pending moves, edited deliberately only.

**Slide 6.** Truth file 2 is the site registry: live tree, hosting project, domain and flip state, one record. The other files are views, copied or generated from it.

**Slide 7.** The rule: one record per fact, every other file a dated or generated view, a check against the live site, done only when both truth files say so with a date, every reader repointed.

**Slide 8.** Comment FLEET and I'll send the single-record rule plus the free Fleet Room invite.
